  1. Chef Gordon Ramsay

I vote Chef Gordon Ramsay as among The Good. I have been watching all of his shows on DVD I can get my hands on. It's truly wonderful to watch a person in action with as much dedication and passion as he has. That he swears like there's no tomorrow is completely irrelevant to me. He has passion. It shows in the time, effort and success he has put into his career. His standards are impeccable. From the management of a restaurant to the presentation of food to the quality of the servers. He has full integrity to each of his standards. To each area of the kitchen. No matter who he meets, in whatever area of the UK or America, he is always the same constant Gordon. His one goal is to watch and evaluate. And when he has come to a conclusion he communicates it clearly to the point. With almost anyone (that matters), he always resonates with. If they don't at first, because they don't like hearing the truth so clearly, they eventually do. He brings out the best possible in the people who are willing to listen. And with anyone who's willing to listen he is right there, ready to give them advice, train them. He is un-pretentious, incredibly honest, passionate, incredibly hard working, down to earth and funny Chef Gordon Ramsay is The Good.
  2. Facebook advice?

I would just ignore them. They don't get a notification that you rejected them. Or, you can always just leave it as pending. I really don't think you should worry about this. It's your profile with your own "rules" and if they are devastated or insulted because of Facebook then that is something they need to deal with.
  3. Facebook advice?

Grade 7 and 8 teachers? Unless I really liked them or they made a difference in my life somehow, I wouldn't. Basically, everyone on my friends list I have an interest in at the very least, and would like to get together with :-)
  4. Facebook advice?

My standard of who I will accept as a friend is someone with whom I've had a strong acquaintance or friendship with at some point in life. With people I don't know, or don't want to be friends with (ex: one of my friends boyfriends) I just ignore. I don't feel bad about it at all, and I don't think you should either

  12. Be a part of something bigger than yourself

When I have thought of the term "some thing bigger than yourself", I have thought of an abstract principle/virtue such as Freedom. Something that lasts longer than your life, even if you were to live a full life. For example, Brave Heart. He died for some thing bigger than himself. For freedom. So did our Grandfathers in WWI and II. If one was in war, and "dies for some thing bigger than oneself", one would/should be volitionally dying for something he thinks is of Life and Death importance. Call me what you want, but in the long range scheme of things, I think this is important. It is the ideas, the Freedom we are fighting for. So, to me, "something bigger than yourself" means something worth living/dying for over centuries, over time. I personally know that never being in war of any kind, I am in no position to speak of what it's like to be on the front lines fighting Germany or in Afghanistan like a good friend of mine is.... but I do know how god damned important Freedom is. Being alive, not having to worry everyday about being bombed or being in an abusive arranged marriage.... In war, people die, but isn't it worth the ideas we are fighting for? I used to think think that that term was vague and demeaning, but now I understand it a little better... What's "bigger than yourself" isn't god or society, but things that you and I wake up for in the morning like: Passion, Freedom, Productiveness, Pride. Mabye we are using different definitions of the term, but this is where I stand on it.
  13. Obama's Regulatory Czar an Animal Rights Wacko

Obviously this notion is very non-common sensical... but it really makes me laugh when my cat, cradled comfortably in my arms, purrs, while lovingly looks up into my eyes with droopy eyes. Not to mention the 40$ bag of vet grade cat food I buy them with the occasional can of real tuna, combined with fresh water daily. I agree egochick If that's slavery, and I'm a cat... sign me up!!

  17. Carlos, I just wanted to say a sincere "Thank you" for your interest and research into this topic. This is very important. Also, for presenting it in a way that a person with no specialized knowledge, (but common sense) can understand.
  18. This recipe is actually stepping out of my box for me as I've never been a fan of sweet and sour anything. But recently, my good friend took me to her Mothers house and this is what we had for dinner. It was very flavorful and absolutely delicious. If you are a novice, the recipe itself turns out wonderfully, but if you are a little more experienced in cooking, and are familiar with flavors, the recipe is definitely open for options and tweaking. SWEET AND SOUR MEATBALLS 1 lb of ground beef 1 egg 1/2 cup of bread crumbs 1/4 cup of parmesean cheese About a tbs of ketchup A couple shakes of worcestershire sauce Lots of black pepper, a little salt, paprika, a good dash ( 1/2 tsp) of garlic powder, or more if you love garlic like me ) Veggies: About a 1 cup and a half of an assortment of your favourite veggies. ( I used carrots, onion, celery, broccoli and cauliflower) 1 bottle of sweet and sour sauce ( I got one that was meant for stir - fry, as it tended to have a little extra flavor) Mix the above ingredients with the meat thoroughly, making sure it stays together when forming the ball. If it starts to fall apart, add more breadcrumbs and mix. Brown them in canola or olive oil, cooking through. Set aside. In same pan or different one, add 1 tbs of butter, and fry veggies. Add sweet and sour sauce, then add meatballs and mix thoroughly. Add 1/4 cup of water if sauce is too thick. Serve over prepared rice and enjoy!
  19. Organizing your house/room

I live in a very small bachelor apartment. The biggest problem I have with my place is clutter. Be it with documents, clothes, shoes, books, whatever. I was wondering if anyone had any advice or any recommendations on organizing clutter. Because I rent my apartment, I don't want to do anything permanent, I was thinking more along the lines of shelves, storage bins etc... I also don't plan moving anytime soon due to financial reasons. I love the feeling of a clean, open space. It helps me think better. But on the other hand, I also don't want to stop aquiring things ie: gifts, clothes, etc... My one friend told how on Oprah, there was a man who would start with the person instead of the space. He analyzed their personality and would ask the person what their reasons were for keeping most of their things. And it turned out that people were pack rats or keeping the stuff for a weak reason. Has anyone heard of him? Any advice would be much appreciated!!
