You ever really, really wonder what Akston's hamburgers would taste like if they were real? Somebody should do something like that, like they did with all the Harry Potter candies, only make Akston's Hamburgers.

The underlining identifies my dad, the bold identifies my mom.

Could you put up The 1949 Fountainhead Movie directed by King Vidor and staring Gary Cooper and Patricia Neal? Thank you! Link to IMDB site: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0041386/

I completely see what your saying.

Have you ever met someone with a philosophy that they preach which contradicts their lifestyle? Both my parents have this - my Mom is semi-Kantian and Obama supporter (because of her feelings) in word, but as far as her actual life practice goes, I think she could be classified under almost Objectivist. My Dad, however, claims to support individual effort and achievement, but is a complete moocher the scale of which would impress even the lowest of beggars. Does anyone else know someone like this? And is there a term for it (besides Contradictionism)?

Well done. Very light hearted, yet still meaningful. Excellent work!

Lots of forms have edit buttons for typing-impaired people (like me). I think it would be a great idea, and allow for some more free time for Betsy, if this forum had one. Please?

I would define myself as libertarian-leaning-conservative, as far as American politics go. I imagine it will.

Livin' in the Galt's Gulch Paradise (AKA, Atlas Shrugged Rap)

I'm sorry, the first part of my G.G.P. was not copied on, could someone edit it on? Thanks. Here it is: As I walk through the valley hidden by Mr. Galt I realize that I'm not the one who's at fault 'Cause I've been victimized and severley wronged Mr. John Galt finally showed me where my Mind belonged But I ain't never made somethin for somebody else Even though self intrest is compleatly unheard of Which is why I came here, to live for myself Even though destruction rules the world above I really need to see things, they really are there As they choke, I see themselves in their own pistol smoke, fools But Mr. Galt's gonna go and he'll stop the motor On the street in the night showing minds the true light -
Funny - you just described the rough copy I have for my future. I plan on becoming a lawyer, and I would like to try out politics. But because Politics is such a chance business, as it is to dependent on too many people for too many reasons, that it should not be anyone's sole career goal. I want to become a lawyer and try out politics because I find the activities and work involved in those jobs interesting and exciting (in my definition). I realize that politics is not the right way to cause cultural changes - which is why I'm a writer.

I feel, as a Republican, that you are over-generalizing some aspects of the party's social policy. I will admit that many of our party's members are deluded with the belief that they are free-marketers, as evidenced by corporate subsidies, etc. But that is not the position of most modern Republicans. We're beginning to move away from that. 2nd - Very few Republicans support the latter three of the "Vice" laws. The only ones who do are Theocratic nut cases, and although they may be the most visible members of our party, they are certainly not the largest, nor the most influential. As a Republican, I can tell you that I know several others, myself included, who continue to view pornography and may have occasionally Gambled (none of us, as far as I know, have used drugs or prostitutes though). Although I do understand your point, I feel you are looking way to much as the insane right wing of our party, which is not really all that influential anymore. They were once, but they're dying out quickly now. Huckabee was their last chance.

What is the stupiest thing you heard a viro say?
PrimeMover replied to Capitalist Man's topic in Environmentalism
You have no idea. I'm 14, so I see the effects very well. It's like the plague; it's the most popular thing now: Go Green! Save the Earth! It bugs the hell out of me that you can't find more then 6 teenagers in the whole country who aren't proud Greens. It really is this generation's cause. If someone doesn't explain to them quickly why environmentalism is wrong, we're headed toward disaster. Everywhere, everyone is advertising how green they are. Sometimes I wish somebody would start a buisness just for the sake of being a company that openly expresses it's anti-environmentalism. Like a clothing shop that produced shirts saying "I hate the color Green. I prefer Grey." And put plaques on it's buildings saying "Most Environmentally Unfriendly business in the city!" -
If he didn't want to pull out of Iraq, I would have been waving the... colored* flag of Ron Paul revolution. *What color would Republican-Libertarianism have?

I love root beer, but my favorite drink would have to be either Coca Cola in a Glass bottle or Creme Soda. Still, I love root beer. Probably A&W is the best, but that might just be because I've grown up with it.

Livin' in the Galt's Gulch Paradise (AKA, Atlas Shrugged Rap)
PrimeMover posted a topic in Re-Writes
There was a song written a while back, very popular, called "Gangsta's Paradise". It's really good (and me saying that about a rap/hip-hop song means a lot). It has had several parodies - most notably Weird Al's "Amish Paradise". I saw a bit of an opportunity and reworded the song to become like a Rap version of Atlas Shrugged. I know that It probably isn't all that great, and that it is far from perfect, but It should be a little interesting. First, though, the lyrics to the original and a YouTube music video of it. Lyrics: As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I take a look at my life and realize there's nothing left Cause I've been blastin and laughing so long that Even my mama thinks that my mind is gone But I ain't never crossed a man that didn't deserve it He be treated like a punk, you know that's unheard of You better watch how you talking, and where you walking Or you and your homies might be lined in chalk I really hate to trip, but I gotta loc As they croak I see myself in the pistol smoke, fool I'm the kinda G that little homies wanna be like On my knees in the night Sayin' prayers in the street light been spending most our lives Living in a Gangsta's Paradise been spending most our lives Living in a Gangsta's Paradise keep spending most our lives Living in a Gangsta's Paradise keep spending most our lives Living in a Gangsta's Paradise Forgot the situation, they got me facin I can't live a normal life, I was raised by the street So I gotta be down with the hood team Too much television watchin' got me chasin dreams I'm a educated fool, with money on my mind Got my ten in my hand and a gleam in my eye I'm a loced-out gangsta, set-trippin banger And my homies is down, so don't arouse my anger, fool Death ain't nothing but a heart beat away I'm livin life do-or-die ah, what can I say? I'm twenty-three now will I live to see twenty-fo'? The way things are goin I don't know Tell me why are we -- so blind to see That the ones we hurt -- are you and me been spending most their lives Living in the Gangsta's Paradise been spending most their lives Living in the Gangsta's Paradise keep spending most our lives Living in the Gangsta's Paradise keep spending most our lives Living in the Gangsta's Paradise Power and the money, money and the power Minute after minute, hour after hour Everybody's running, but half of them ain't lookin What's goin on in the kitchen, but I don't know what's cookin They say I got ta learn, but nobody's here to teach me If they can't understand it, how can they reach me? I guess they can't -- I guess they won't I guess they frontin that's why I know my life is out of luck, fool thave been spending most their lives Living in the Gangsta's Paradise thave been spending most their lives Living in the Gangsta's Paradise we keep spending most our lives Living in the Gangsta's Paradise we keep spending most our lives Living in the Gangsta's Paradise Tell me why are we -- so blind to see That the ones we hurt -- are you and me Tell me why are we -- so blind to see That the ones we hurt -- are you and me Tell me why are we -- so blind to see That the ones we hurt -- are you and me Tell me why are we -- so blind to see That the ones we hurt -- are you and me ah ah ah ah ah ah Video: Now, My reworded "Livin' in the Galt's Gulch Paradise" (AKA: Atlas Shrugged Rap): Livin in the Galt's Gulch Paradise Been spendin most our lives Livin in the Galt's Gulch Paradise Been spendin most our lives Livin in the Galt's Gulch Paradise Realized the situation that they've got me facin My life or my mind, as though it were were a choice So I had to leave the collectiveized fiends Too much socialism and I'll be leaving my dreams I'm an educated man, with my mind makin money My ten million in Stock, ten billion in Cash But those damn communistos will put me under the lash But now I'm safe in the valley where it's all birght and sunny Been spendin most our lives Livin in the Galt's Gulch Paradise Been spendin most our lives Livin in the Galt's Gulch Paradise Been spendin most our lives Livin in the Galt's Gulch Paradise Been spendin most our lives Livin in the Galt's Gulch Paradise My buisness and my money, my money the the buisness Minute after minute, year after year They take those two away from me without my permission They told me not to think, but I'm a rational man 10-289 is an intelligence ban!
