There is no such thing as a scientific (i.e. physical) theory proven "beyond a doubt". Why? Because one cannot say if and when a fact will come along that will blow such a blessed theory to smitereens. All it takes is one stubborn contrary fact to falsify a general assertion. Example: all swans are white. then someone comes along and points out a non-white swan. Goodbye generalization. It is gone. It is busted. ruveyn

Philosophers bounce off me. By and large I have relegated them to my background noise.

Neither can the philosophers. Three thousand years and they are still running around in circles. Not a good track record. ruveyn

I have studied the scans carefully. It doesn't show up. So either my mind is immaterial/non-physical or it does not exist. Fortunately I have a brain that serves me well. I can't miss what I either never had or could not find. ruveyn

Could you explain that? TIA.

I have taken "objectivist" (in the generic sense) to mean one who is more attached to facts and strict logic than to emotional crapdoodle, introspection, naval gazing and wishful thinking. Am I off by much? ruveyn

I should think that the Ultimate Strong Auto would be made of carbon fiber material which is stronger than steel and much lighter. With the right weave carbon fiber material, especially nano-filament would have both tensile and compressive strength. Imagine a car of only a few hundred pounds exceeding the string of a ton of steel! the mind boggles. -

Apparently chasis strength and power to weight ratio are not your primary concern. De gustabus non disputandem est. (Latin for there is no point arguing about matters of taste). ruveyn -
He finally did use the T word but it was not preceded by the I word or the J word.

And yet again! Condell tags the E.U. for what it is. A proto fascist abomination. Damn! That man is brilliant! ruveyn -

Darius was frustrated at Marathon, but it was Xerxes who tried his luck at Thermopolea and Salamis. The Greek cities in Ionia were still paying tribute to the Persians. The Persians where whipped at the Sea Battle of Salamis 480 b.c.e. and on land at Plataea. 479 b.c.e. But the real destruction of the Persian Empire was done by Alexander around 331 b.c.e. So it was Alexander that finally ended "Asiatic Despotism". Greece remained Greek until it was squashed by the Romans. I think the Boston bombing was done by Muslim Jihadis. But we will have to wait for the thing to be properly investigated before we know. ruveyn

An intelligent essay and one that is soundly based on history, not philosophical ideology. Well done! ruveyn -
AMG SLS Electric Drive (video, 18:45)
ruveyn ben yosef replied to JohnRgt's topic in Engineering & Technology
As long as gasoline is relatively cheap the electric car will not compete very well in the market. 1. Electric cars are expensive. 2. We do not have a distribution system for charging or swapping out batteries located just about every where. On the other hand, just about every where you look there is a gas station. Bottom line: at this juncture the only reasonable use for an all electric is for limited distance commuting. It will be a long time before the market favors all electric autos. It won't happen until gasoline becomes scarce. ruveyn -
No sir. I am an Aspergarian something.

Silly Aspergarian me. Taking the English language literally again. I am a hopeless case. Thank you for the correction. ruveyn
