Posted 22 Mar 2009 · Report post On March 28 you can VOTE EARTH by switching off your lights for one hour.Or you can vote global warming by leaving your lights on.LinkI'm thinking of stressing my vote by renting one of those generator-driven light trees that are used to illuminate highways for night work. The results of the election are being presented at the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen 2009. We want one billion votes for Earth, to tell world leaders that we have to take action against global warmingHow precisely do they imagine they can "count the votes" so to speak? I'm guessing these were the people moaning about GWB in Florida.I'll leave the heating and the air-con running simultaneously. And maybe the car running in the drive. And all the lights on obviously...and the computer, TV, DVD...radio and ipod dock...charge my mobile phone of course...and shaver...maybe shread some paper to throw out (and burn)...do some cooking in the electric oven..run the washing machine and dishwasher...take a shower..then cut the lawn, maybe clip the hedge with the electric clippers, boil a kettle, burn some toast...uh, I may leave the freezer open for a bit to really crank up that condenser and leave everything I can't use at once on stand-by (an electric hanging-chad if you will). If we win the vote does anyone reckon they might shut-up?

Posted 23 Mar 2009 · Report post I'm still amazed that people don't understand the meaning of this nonsense. They should ask themselves what the NYC blackouts (especially the one in '77) achieved for the Earth, and what the Earth gave the city residents in return. Electrical power is the product of man's mind, a capacity for production that is necessary for living on this earth. Turning out the lights is a symbol of both blanking out ones mind, and consequently a symbol for suicide. That's what this "vote" is for.

Posted 24 Mar 2009 · Report post You all did notice that spiffy web-site they advertised their bilge on? They don't seem to have any qualms about using the product of the mind in their attempt to destroy it. Perhaps a movement could be formed to utilize that "hour" to DOSA their sites and effectively "turn out their lights" - but I suppose that would be stooping to their level. If you want to be an internet activist, try adding comments to the web sites of friends and foes, complete with links to appropriate op-eds on the ARI web site. Posted 25 Mar 2009 · Report post How precisely do they imagine they can "count the votes" so to speak? It's all about "inferring voter intent," you see. Or in plain English, "If in doubt, just assume he's with Al Gore!"
Posted 25 Mar 2009 · Report post BTW, is it just me, or does anyone else have problems figuring this ballot out? It says "Saturday 28 March 8:30-9:30 PM," but doesn't specify a time zone. So how am I supposed to know when exactly they'll count my vote? I feel disenfranchised!
