The Smearing Begins

These people are as intelligent as they are dishonest and crooked; observe how CNN is trying to skillfully undermine the entire "TEA Party" movement:

What a slimy bastard... she asked him a question, then badgered him and interrupted him, then type-casted the entire group as a wild, anarchist rabble who wouldn't allow her sophisticated self to conduct a fair news story.

Note the skillful package-deal smears: an intelligent criticism of government taxation and excessive spending is simply twisted as being "anti-government, anti-CNN"

These people are polished geniuses of spin

Actually, they are crude and unpolished spinning idiots who aren't fooling anybody.

Observe that the YouTube clip you posted was labelled "Biased CNN reporter enraged at TEA Party protesters" and described as "CNN's Susan Roesgen fumes with anger at American citizens exercising their constitutional right to speak out against excessive taxation."

Other clips of the same CNN reporter are

"Psycho CNN Reporter Susan Roesgen attacks demonstrator at a Tea Party" (

)"

"CNN Reporter Harassing Protester at Chicago "Tea-Party" Screams at Protester" (link)

"CNN Reporter Attempts To Intimidate A Chicago Tea Party Attendee!!" (link)

etc.

I saw this on Fox News yesterday. What was particularly galling and telling was that the man was about to deliver a variant of the most powerful statement against government evil: "You have no right!!"

The woman knew that, and quickly moved into action. She could not allow him to finish -- it would have been too damaging to the Obama regime.

People confronted her about her biased and dishonest reporting just seconds after she turned off the camera.

Here is an Illinois Democrat Congresscritter spouting the Leftist Tea Party Talking Points ™

Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) blasted "tea party" protests yesterday, labeling the activities "despicable" and shameful."

"The 'tea parties' being held today by groups of right-wing activists, and fueled by FOX News Channel, are an effort to mislead the public about the Obama economic plan that cuts taxes for 95 percent of Americans and creates 3.5 million jobs," Schakowsky said in a statement.

"It's despicable that right-wing Republicans would attempt to cheapen a significant, honorable moment of American history with a shameful political stunt," she added. "Not a single American household or business will be taxed at a higher rate this year. Made to look like a grassroots uprising, this is an Obama bashing party promoted by corporate interests, as well as Republican lobbyists and politicians."

This is followed by the comments of dozens of real people responding (link) .

Heck of a shame Jan wasn't around in 1776 because with her distaste for tea parties she could have been on our side and her Brittanic majesty would still be in charge....

Damn people and their refusal to submit to tyranny and all. Tug your forelock like a good serf and be on your way.

This is functionally a very stupid woman. She may have a mind, but she doesn't use it. She controls the mic and an equally Leftist support team handles the cameras, editing, and assembly of a completely distorted story. If she were smarter, the bias wouldn't be so ridiculously obvious. She actually trotted out, yelling over the man with the 2-yr old that he would be receiving a 400 dollar tax cut, followed by, "do you know that Lincoln [i'm guessing this was in Nebraska?]will be receiving 50 billion dollars...?" I wish he'd had the presence of mind to ask her: "Do you have any idea how much that $50 billion will cost all of us, after being laundered through 100,000 Washington and State bureaucrats? Government destroys wealth, it doesn't create it." As for the $400, that one personally offends me, since it's typical of the Left to give a dime to the little guy while sucker punching the guy who hires him and pays his salary in the gut. What good is the $400 when you've lost your job?

But all of this such a mindless enterprise. She knew, CNN knew, that they were going to search out and hold up to ridicule the Crazy Right-Wingers they would find at these events. That was her mission and that was what she did, regardless of the truth or falsehood of her operating assumption. She's defending Obama and her own cherished & unquestioned biases. All else pales in comparison to the importance of that task.

CNN was in bed with Saddam Hussein. They covered up for him, whitewashed him, pretended they were doing news rather than propaganda. They were OK with him dumping his enemies head-first into shredding machines. After his overthrow, they even admitted it.

They currently are in bed with Fidel Castro, doing exactly the same friendly cover-up. Castro may not be as bloody as Saddam, he's butchered "only" a reputed 17,000 victims; but then, Cuba is a much smaller country. People still throw themselves into the ocean to get away from the "blessings" of his socialist rule.

Now our terrorist-loving, "God-damn-America" president wants to bring us the blessings his Communist father inspired him with, the "social justice" his Weather Underground buddies Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn tried to achieve with their pipe bombs, the squalor of a petty third-world dictatorship where everyone's his slave. And CNN's priority? To lick up his spittle.

They (and all the other socialists) are at war with us. Make no mistake. This is WAR.

Their constant lying is just another proof that reality is against them. Or rather, that they are against reality.

* * *

Remember that thrilling, magnificent Act II of Puccini's "Tosca"? After the villain tortures Cavaradossi for concealing a political prisoner, news suddenly arrives that the dictatorship is being overthrown! Cavaradossi bursts out defiantly:

Vittoria! Vittoria!

L'alba vindice appar

Che fa gli empli tremar!

Liberta sorge, crolan tirannidi!

Victory! Victory!

Now let freedom awake,

Let all tyrants now quake

As day brings deliverance!

Since some of you won't be familiar with the opera, here's the scene:

Or for the music alone, track 10:

I switched my TV on while cooking dinner today and it happened to be turned to CNN. Just when they were reporting that there is indisputable overwhelming evidence that human activity produces global warming - I noticed a phrase in the right corner of the screen (near the CNN logo) reading: NO BIAS. NO BULL.

WOW!

WOW!

Why in the world do you even leave your TV tuned to the channel for more than 30 seconds? I'd get a migraine if I turned on the TV and the first thing I heard was someone from CNN. I do not trust them to broadcast anything about any story without it being biased to the left. I cannot tolerate watching them. I hope they go out of business like so many liberal newspapers are these days.

I'm with you on this one . . . in fact, I don't watch ANY TV news programs. Life is too short.

Now that really is low -- breaking into your home and turning your television set to CNN while you're out shopping. Since, obviously, you must have had it set elsewhere.

Those bastards.

Fox News tonight showed the video that CNN pulled off utube.

Here is another one with the same CNN reporter earlier going berserk because a protestor identified Obama as a fascist.

Michelle Malkin has a post on the same reporter exposed at newsbusters for previously supporting a leftist calling Bush a "lookalike" to a cartoon with a Hitler mustache and horns.

CNN is the operational definition of "non-objective".

Question: How long before CNN sets its sights on Ayn Rand, Objectivism, and maybe ARI? (presuming the whole "Going Galt" and Atlas book sales continue to surge in popularity)

I can very easily imagine them doing a special on Miss Rand where they drag out all sorts of filthy trolls (like the Brandens) to have a smear-fest.

It's very creepy to see the way that news-agencies like CN--on principle--practice non-objectivity as a weapon to destroy their enemies.

That may take a while.

I think they'll keep up the ignoring for as long as they can.

They may have learned how negative publicity can cause a backlash by people whom it makes actually interested.

Somehow, I can't seem to drum up any concern over this hypothetical smear-fest by the Communist News Network. When it gets here let me know, and I'll see if I can care.

For the past 30? more? years Ayn Rand has been getting little coverage at all aside from smears. But recently she has begun to receive -- drum roll -- not always entirely dishonest coverage, and on occasion, coverage that is downright... accurate. Amazing.

She, and even her ideas, are apparently becoming just a bit too well-known to ignore or smear IN THE SAME OLD WAYS any longer. Ayn Rand's actual ideas are powerful, and they are starting to spread. This, of course, causes the ritual smears -- but the old smears are simply not fooling as many (honest) people as they used to.

The old tactics are/were SO dishonest, and SO inaccurate -- and real information is so much more readily available -- that enemies will have to begin to show some (gasp) glimmers of innovation in their lying in order to smear Ayn Rand in any way that can't be seen through almost immediately by anyone who counts, i.e. by honest people.

And innovation isn't exactly the hallmark of the non-objective. Would-be smearers -- as virulent and dishonest as they may be -- are finally being required to put forth a little effort in order to achieve their goals. And you know how they hate that.

The old holy triumvirate of idiocy/dishonesty/ignorance -- finally -- just doesn't work as well as it used to. And that is so even given the hideous dominant cultural and educational trends.

That's the way I see it.

Well, it seems that it hasn't taken CNN all that long at all to begin its attack of Miss. Rand. I just received an email from ARC stating that they just weighed-in with Yaron Brook's recent interview on CNN.

But I just wanted to make the point that, even though I'm just as angry as the next guy about smearing, we shouldn't get too personal about it. Smearing is always a byproduct of political maneuvering since the dawn of time. As Ayn Rand and Objectivism become more and more a topic of political discussion, expect to see more attacks, more smears, and all more vigorous than ever. It seems that, finally, people have recognized that there's another army gathering on the political battlefield of the U.S., and this one doesn't like either of the two sides currently fighting! Let us take advantage of the situation as never before, while at the same time understanding that we'll have to sustain "losses" (such as Mr. Brook's current CNN interview) at the same time; such is the nature of war.

Once again, in that CNN "profile", we hear the nonsensical drivel that today's current mess is the consequence of what is referred to as "Capitalism left to its own devices". I continue to be amazed that anyone could, with a straight face, characterize the heavily government-regulated/manipulated American economy of the last 100-120 years as "Capitalism", let alone Capitalism "left to its own devices" as though there were any other kind.

Most people have no idea of the extent of the regulatory restrictions and mandates or the failure of the government to act where it should to prevent theft and fraud (like its approval of the AAA ratings of the worthless mortages it mandated for people who couldn't pay them back). They have been told the opposite so many times that they are thoroughly bamboozled.

That was hardly what I would call vigorous. It was bland. This is what you see everywhere. It's not just CNN. If that was an attack it was very weak. This is the same brand of ignorance which many many people share -- including those who are not particularly anti-capitalist. I couldn't see it as a "loss" for Objectivism. What Yaron Brook said was perfectly fine. The rest is a totally mainstream view of the financial crisis. It had the flavor of a story from the AP, which one sees printed over and over by many "news" outlets, which can't seem to spare the money (or brain cells) to discover any real news stories, so they just print whatever they receive from some news service.
