I have a New Year's project - to spend one hour each day reading in areas where I know little. My thought on Science has been that there may be a national journal or magazine that covers a range of topics accessible to the non-scientific reader. Any suggestions from knowledgeable Forum participants will be appreciated.

I used to like Scientific American and Science News, but Stephen and I both gave up on them when their content was overwhelmed by a political agenda.

We found New Scientist (link), produced in Great Britain, to be the best general science magazine today, but it is not perfect either.
