Franz Waxman

3 posts in this topic

From one of the most illustrious composers of the golden age of Hollywood film scores, here is Franz Waxman's beautiful reworking of thematic material from his 1947 score for the Hitchcock classic The Paradine Affair. It is in the form of a rhapsody for piano and orchestra.

Incidentally, one of the stars of that 1947 film, the lovely Alida Valli, was Kira in the Italian film version of Miss Rand's We the Living.

Enjoy!

And, by way of an encore, here are Waxman's "Cafe Waltzes" from the film, Hotel Berlin.

Don't forget his magnificent scores for "Bride of Frankenstein" (1935) and "Spirit of St. Louis" (1957) !
