Anton Rubinstein: Piano Trio in E-flat Major (Op. 52)

1 post in this topic

The Russian piano virtuoso, composer and conductor completed his Piano Trio No. 3 in E-flat Major in 1857. In terms of harmony, melodic shape and overall structure, Rubinstein's work is aligned with the general International or German Romantic style of his era rather than with the emerging "Russian school" of composition typified by his contemporaries ("The Five", including Mily Balakirev, C├ęsar Cui, Modest Mussorgsky, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and Alexander Borodin). Nonetheless, Rubinstein was a mighty force within Russian musical circles of the mid- to late-19th Century.

Here is a performance of Rubinstein's trio by the Trio di Torino. Enjoy!
