Hamilton Harty: Piano Concerto in B Minor (1922)

1 post in this topic

Irish pianist and conductor, Hamilton Harty, is perhaps best remembered to today as the man who, as its chief conductor, made the venerable Hallé Orchestra of Manchester (the oldest symphony orchestra in England) into one of the finest of European orchestras. Although his music is almost entirely forgotten today, Harty was also a composer of some note as his Piano Concerto in B Minor amply demonstrates. Completed in 1922, this is a soaring, richly scored late Romantic work that in my view deserves a much better acquaintance.

Enjoy!
