Ten Years that helped to save capitalism...

2 posts in this topic

Read of the doings of John James Cowperthwaite whose administration of Hong Kong between 1961 and 1971 turned Hong Kong into a capitalist dynamo. Hong Kong under British governance is the closest the world has come to genuine capitalism.

Capitalism just doesn't happen (by magic or chance), it has to be built and nurtured.

More on Coperthwaite.

See http://en-cowperthwaite.blogspot.com/

The question I would ask is this: when was the U.S. more capitalistic than was Hong Kong at its height?

It seems the the government was always hovering over the U.S. economy waiting to scarf up its share of the wealth it never created.

The U.S. has been haunted by the ghost of Alexander Hamilton, the King of the Cronies and the Statist from Hell.
