Posted 24 Mar 2012 · Report post I fully meant to post this earlier in the week, but, well . . . Anyway, I went to the local 70th anniversary screening of Casablanca. I don't know how many times I've seen the movie, but, there were so many details I had never seen nor heard before. It was quite the experience.
Posted 24 Mar 2012 · Report post Casablanca is my life time favorite move. I saw it when I was a kid. The scene between Laszlo and Blaine will always be in my mind ... "Welcome back to the war, Mr. Blaine. Now I know our side will win ..."ruveyn
Posted 24 Mar 2012 · Report post My favorite line was spoken by Bogey to Conrad Veidt, after Veidt's character asked Bogey's what he would think of Germany invading New York: "There are certain parts of New York, Major, I wouldn't advise you to invade." Posted 24 Mar 2012 · Report post There are no end to stirring scenes and quotable quotes from -Casablanca-. One of the most moving was the scene where Victor Laszlo has the band at Rick's cafe strike up the Marseilles (the French National Anthem) to drown out the Nazis singing Die Wacht am Rein. Everyone in the cafe stands up to sing. Even Yvonne who has been consorting with the Nazis remembers she is a patriot after all. As if this scene were not great enough it ends with the immortal --- "I'm shocked(!), shocked(!) to see that there is gambling going on here..;."ruveyn
