Posted 20 Jul 2012 · Report post Today I found out that the breast cancer my mother fought off in the past has returned, metastatizing in the liver. It seems the median life expectancy after such a diagnosis is between 2 to 4 years. After bouts with cancer her immune system isn't that good anymore. The information I've found so far indicates the treatment at this point will likely be palliative in nature.Does anyone have experience with this kind of disease? I'm not sure what to expect. Breast cancer was one thing but liver metastasis seems much more deadly. The chemo treatments were bad enough before, I can't imagine they'll go over well at this point. Posted 20 Jul 2012 · Report post There is growing evidence that a cheap diabetes medication -- metformin -- has significant anti-cancer properties for both breast and liver cancer.See http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2012/03/120331151136.htm

Posted 20 Jul 2012 · Report post I have heard that some cancers respond well to a ketogenic (ultra low carbs) diet. However, others do not and I don't know which ones do. You may want to research that avenue.

Posted 23 Sep 2013 · Report post I recently listened to a presentation given at a conference on anti-aging by the doctor who runs this organization: www.int-imm-foundation.comas well as talked with him a bit later. His approach is to use what amounts to a form of blood dialysis to remove molecules that are copiously produced by cancer cells in order to defeat immune system attack. If it's to be believed, this has been very successful in a number of cases involving highly metastasized cancer that has no possible conventional treatment. This is logical since a functioning immune response is far more targeted and comprehensive than conventional chemotherapy. As would be expected, this doesn't work well if the immune system has been compromised.I post this strictly as something to investigate further - I don't yet have enough information to know how reliable are the claims.
