Posted 27 Jul 2012 · Report post Now, here is a brillant mind, inventing what will be the first bodysuit to enable a man to fly. Look here, admire a man of the mind at work: Jetman - http://www.jetman.com/?page_id=24What do you think of THAT? Also - let's not fail to discuss:Felix Baumgartner! http://felixbaumgartner.com/Who this week completed a 17 MILE SKY DIVE (!!!) and that IS JUST THE PREP RUN FOR HIS PLANNED 23 MILE SKY DIVE FROM THE EDGE OF SPACE. YES, SPACE. JUST LIKE IN THAT MOVIE WE KNOW AND LOVE.Now, that's some real men we can admire.

Posted 28 Jul 2012 · Report post Will having one's own strap on airplane solve the commuting problems. What if the sky is filled with flying commuters, like a swarm of agitated gnats. And how safe would it be? If auto drivers were tested with the same rigor as pilots (trust me, I am a pilot) only a tenth would be out on the roads. The idea of giving the typical incompetent American driver the opportunity to go down in flames does alarm me a trifle. The private jet pack is a nice toy and is totally useless and impractical as a means of mass transit.ruveyn

Adults, heroic and less then heroic, can enjoy something like this. The jet pack need not be any more practical than a windsurfing kit, a Ferrari, a stunt plain, etc., etc., to be worthwhile. (You realize that this pack would allow you to fly for a while, with all visceral feedback turned up to 11, right?)
