Yes, it's best to keep the loose ends tied up.

A Mayan scholar has said that the date was misinterpreted, leaving it open what the real date is. So we're not out of the woods yet. The Mayan Cliff still looms.

As does the death of our sun. But worry not. There will be no humans around this planet at that time, to be bothered.

The shelf life of mammalian species on Earth is much shorter than the time left to the death of the sun.
