Posted 8 Dec 2005 · Report post For those of you that love outdoor activities, I have found the perfect fleece and soft shell jacket company. BeyondFleece.com. I ordered my Cold Blooded fleece and I absolutely love it! First of all, it is the only company I know of that does a completely custom fit (and this is for about the same price you would pay for a regular one!). It was actually too small the first time around- which apparently only happens 2% of the time- so I simply sent it back with a note explaining what was wrong. They send me a new one two weeks later. All of this for free! This actually took longer than usual because Thanksgiving was one of the weeks involved. They are such a great company. My fleece is so awesome. For example, I walked out of the grocery store (with my first one on) and it was just below 40 degrees and extremely windy. I noticed that my chest was cold- so I zipped it up. I honestly could not feel the wind. I really am amazed. It is such a great company. The staff is extremely helpful and nice- both through e-mail and on the phone. Plus, they don't even charge for shipping! The price you pay is the price you see. I only have one complaint- actually it's more of a warning: don't get the underarm pit zips. I cannot comment on the soft shells, but on the fleeces they are very uncomfortable. Unless you absolutely need them, I would suggest you don't. Their garments really live up to their name- BeyondFleece.Zak

Posted 20 Dec 2005 · Report post Cold Blooded fleece←they say that is the warmest of all their lines... I'm always looking for how to stay warm, so thank you! My only complaint is they don't look too feminine, no coats [just ski-type jackets/pants], and no mittens... but I will definitely put it on my list... Posted 21 Dec 2005 · Report post And I simply cannot abide the announced 70+ temperatures announced for this week in Phoenix! ←OK.... indeed, when I look at the winter temperatures in the Southwest, I wonder why any of us live up North. So you do have a point. But then, I look at the summer temperatures in Phoneix, and see things like 120F. And I've heard stories: 1) the water coming out of the cold-water tap is as hot as that from the hot-water tap; or 2) watch out that you don't get burned by the upholstery or steering wheel in your car. I like it when summer temperatures stay below 90F, and usually don't get that high.Up to a point, I guess I find it easier to warm up than to cool off. But then, I don't live where it gets that cold. Back when I lived in Eastern Washington, I recall a winter during which there was a week that the temperature never got above 0F; the overnight lows were -20F. My car made all kinds of funny noises and never really did warm up on the way to work.Anyway, it's nice that there is good technology for dealing with uncomfortable temperatures. Hurray for capitalism!
Posted 21 Dec 2005 · Report post Don't you just hate global warming? This is the coldest winter that I recall here in Indiana, so far.Yikes! Having spent six winters in northern Indiana, with 20 below temperatures -- before the wind chill -- common from December to March, I can't even imagine a record cold snap. Hurry up with that global warming. (Note to self: buy bigger pickup truck! )But then, I look at the summer temperatures in Phoneix, and see things like 120F. And I've heard stories ... 2) watch out that you don't get burned by the upholstery or steering wheel in your car. I came to Phoenix from Houston with its persistent 90+% humidity. After five years in that humidity, during which I started to grow gills, the dry heat of Phoenix has a welcome change. But north of 110 degrees, its starts to get uncomforable, even for me. As for car burns in the summer, Phoenecians quickly learn to keep a spare set of oven mits in the car! These days I love the southern California approach to snow. It's up at Mammoth Mountain. We drive up and spend a long weekend playing in it and then drive back to palm trees and beaches. I like that arrangement!

Like an "Ivory Snow" soap commercial he may have seen on T.V.That's the beauty of California; you can enjoy the beach in the summer, and go to the snow in the mountains in the winter.I love California!ELS
