Founders College: Faculty

6 posts in this topic

I am not aware of any announcements of faculty at Founders College.

Objectivist and art historian Lee Sandstead made an announcement to his e-mail list:

In the past month, I have accepted one of the greatest career opportunities of my life to date: Chair of the Art History Department of a new, four-year liberal arts program in Southern Virginia. […] [Founders College] has a revolutionary teacher training program designed to provide the right content in the proper order and communicated by the correct method.

Not only will we offer a first-class "generalist" art-history degree, but also the Department of Art History at Founders College will be the first department in the world to offer specialties in Academic Art--that art dating from roughly 1880-1922 that dominated the world. Bouguereau, Leighton, and Daniel Chester French will all be house-hold names at this college--as they were in their own day. […]

Here is local TV coverage on the Founders launch that includes a quote from Lee Sandstead: www.sandstead.com/WRAL_1-04-07.wmv

I personally am very excited for Lee (and for his future students at Founders). I can’t think of anyone I’d like to study art history under more than Lee, and I think it’s a great coup that Founders is giving him the mandate to develop a whole art history program. Bravo!

A radio interview with Gary Hull about Founders College is posted at:

http://www.founderscollege.com/GaryHull.mp3

Dr. Hull describes Founders' goals and latest developments with the new college.

Thanks for posting the reference to this interview. I was listening to and enjoying the interview when it ended abruptly. I tried again but, unfortunately, it ended in the same place, during discussion of the track record of those teaching at the school. Can this be fixed?

well here they are!

not too sure why Gary Hull's name & bio don't appear anywhere, though... it's still very much his curriculum and vision.

March 14, 2007 - Tamara Fuller named CEO

Founders College announced today that it has named Tamara K. Fuller to the position of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Ms. Fuller succeeds Gary Hull, Ph.D., who will become Chief of Educational Research and Development with responsibilities for cultivating the faculty, developing the curriculum and teacher training, and maintaining the highest level of academic standards.

The link to 'Founding Members' at http://www.founderscollege.com/aboutus/ is broken. The cached version of the page at Google includes the bios of Gary Hull and Tamara Fuller.

There is still a page at the Founder's website for Gary Hull's 10 minute sample lecture but it doesn't work for me in either IE or Firefox. Apparently it uses the Macro Media Flash Player.
