GALILEO AND EINSTEIN

I found the lecture notes of someone on the below website. I read through several chapters and found them quite interesting and helpful in giving technical but not overly technical explanation of the history of physics from ancient times through Einstein's relativity. I thought there might be some here who would find it interesting also.

I found it especially interesting the notes that explained that Maxwell deduced the speed of light from his studies of electric and magnetic fields while Michelson was performing experiments to measure the speed of light. Both came up with the same number! This led to the understanding that light was an electromagnetic phenomenon.
