Fish for thought

Re The Little Minnow In A Big Fight With Ottawa (Aug. 24): For years, environmental laws have been used to victimize property owners, to take away their land, their assets and their livelihoods in the name of preserving every variant of animal life. Such laws have enabled the violation of individual rights in every corner of the country, rights that the government should protect.

At the expense of human progress, environmental laws have been used to prevent the construction of dams, irrigation projects, power plants, housing complexes, highways and other essential forms of human development. No laws that place the well-being of animals above the well-being of humans should stand.
