ROB and SHERRI TRACINSKI are pleased to announce the birth of their first child, WALTER WINSTON TRACINSKI.

He was born on July 11th and is healthy and strong. By only three weeks of age he had already chosen his most important values: his mother’s milk, naps, diaper changes, Chopin’s Nocturne No. 1 in B-flat minor, and his father singing “Oh What a Beautiful Morning,” from Oklahoma.

Rob underscored the meaning of his son's birth in TIA Daily on July 11th.

Back in October, TIA Daily covered the birth of the 300 millionth American, and I knew immediately what that news meant and why America is still growing in population, even as the native populations of other regions (such as Europe) shrink. The decision to have children is a vote of confidence in the future—confidence that life is likely to be as good as it is now, or even better, when our son begins his adult life. Regular readers of TIA Daily know the reasons for our own vote of confidence, despite all of the bad news that fills the day's headlines.

It is a very wonderful world that our son is just beginning to discover.
