Less frequent cookie expiration

The title says it all. Each morning the forum requires that I re-log in. I don't understand why this is set that way. I am a member of several other forums (fora?) and I stay logged-in for weeks or months. This is very convenient.

I wonder if it's "just you"? I seem to be remaining logged in long-term. Could it be a browser setting?

A long time ago that happened to me a few times. And I was able to prevent it happening again, so I know there is some setting or other. I'm sorry that I don't recall what it was, but just so you know -- there is -- and I'm sure that Betsy, or someone will know it.

If you have Internet Explorer it might be the one where you go to Tools, Internet Options, Privacy, Sites and enter http://forums.4aynrandfans.com and tag it as "always allow"

Click the "Log in" next to the "Welcome Guest" on the top of the page when you are not logged in. Then log in and click on the "remember me" box. You should stay logged in.

Strange. I never have to re-log in no matter how long I don't have the Forum window open.

I had the same thing happening, but it was a result of my daily 7.12PM DSL disconnect, which went on for at least three months (no one I talked to at my ISP, Verizon, could figure out what the problem was). I would always have to re-login to THE FORUM after the disconnect. Before the daily disconnect started happening, I never had to re-login.

Two days ago the daily whatsis stopped just as magically as it began, so now I'm back to never having to re-login (so far).

I suspect it is something in your settings. I too dont need to log in again. It is either your security settings -- which may erase your cookies frequently? Or you have not clicked the remember me button. I can see how having to do that each time could be quite annoying! Hope you figure it out!

I think I figured out what the problem is. The 'cookie' exists and lasts as long as you want, but expires immediately when you open the website from a different network. Thus if I login and stay in one place, I'm logged in for as long as I don't move to a different network (say, the home network).

I too am frustrated and exasperated at how frequently my cookie expires -- or whatever is the problem. I have to relog-in far too much. I hope someone can improve this. I prefer to stay "logged-in" forever!
