Posted 3 Jun 2008 · Report post I really don't know anything about this book, just came across it as I was web surfing. Does anyone know anything about it? The web site where I saw it claims, "This book is a cross between Dr. Seuss and Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged." There are a few links to sample pages at the site. Posted 4 Jun 2008 · Report post This is a clever little story in a children’s book format about free-markets (note: while you can read this to your kids, it’s more of a satire for adults.) It involves a group of people on an Island, who go about fixing the “quite fixable flaws” of the Island; unfortunately, each time they try to fix something, something worse happens. The book rhymes (much like Dr. Seuss) a goes through various subjects involving free-markets and statism. Some of the subjects are actually pretty funny. Don’t expect to become an expert on economics from this book; but for a fun, enjoyable romp through free-market arguments, this is the book to buy. -Ryan P.S. – Islands are great ways to explain economics; that’s why they pop up as analogies an awful lot.
