If McDonald's don't properly stun 1 cow in 2,000 you never hear the end of it, halal butchery doesn't stun any (therefore much worse if you apply objective measurement to this complaint) yet you don't hear a peep out of them.A combination of a massive double standard and fear of upsetting those who readily preach violence. Posted 4 Jun 2008 · Report post "Inciting racial hatred." Wow! In America, Catholic priests were the subject of national outrage, condemnation, and ridicule, to the point that the Pope recently apologized. On the other hand, saying that Muslim butchers should stun cows (as opposed to tipping them, as we do here in Oklahoma, or slitting their throats and letting them bleed to death, as both Kosher and Halal butchers do) is a hate crime. It's especially notable that, in spite of the Left's willingness to annihilate Western civilization to stop "Global Warming," offending Muslims now trumps animal cruelty. I know there's no real contradiction... rather there are hundreds of them, but I believe that this is abject fear disguised as sensitivity. Offending Muslims threaten to bring suicide bombers to a theatre or drive-in near you. However they dress it up, that's the real fear and that's what the "leadership" is pandering to. In other words, I'm putting Pragmatism down for the philosophical driver, rather than Social Relativism / Egalitarianism. I think that's pretty window dressing for a craven lot of Neville Chamberlains.

We really need Big Brother to send out regular updates to keep us informed about the hierarchy of sacrifice. After all, this election taught us that racism is worse than sexism (as shown by the free pass Obama's gotten from the liberals, who are too afraid of being labeled racist, compared to the analogous argument for voting for Hillary). So what are the current rankings of things like:environmentalismmulticulturalismpovertyanimal rightsracismsexism... and so on? (Not to mention the numerous subdivisions therein.)It's hard to say from one day to the next which cause would trump another when they conflict, as in the case alann cites. Posted 5 Jun 2008 · Report post It's this kind of nonsense that makes them look especially hypocritical given that French papers freely, and almost self-righteously published the Mohammed cartoons last year.
