The main purpose of THE FORUM for Ayn Rand Fans is to discuss and trade knowledge and values -- particularly about Ayn Rand's philosophy of Objectivism
(Rules and Guidelines)

I've have noticed on several threads that the topic under "discussion" is just a link to an article. No evaluation or discussion, other than presumably the title of the thread is apparently supposed to be the originator's opinion of the link. I find this practice annoying and I typically ignore the thread. I would like to recommend that posters not do this. Shouldn't we be discussing ideas here and not just acting as a news service? Shouldn't at least a quote from the article be provided to stimulate discussion about an aspect of the content that the poster is focussing on?

Does anyone else agree with me?

That could be of value.

When I see a post with just a link, I assume the poster is implicitly saying "Here's something I think is interesting that you might want to read." Depending on the topic and/or the poster, I just might.

If that's the case, it would be nice to suggest why I would find the link of interest.
