How it works: The surfaces are coated with retro-reflective material, with a surface structure of micro-beads. A camera in the back records what is going on behind the object. The images are then projected onto the reflective surface in the front by a thin film circuit. The object in between appears transparent.

This is all "old hat". See the motion picture -Predator- starring the Governator of Kalifornia. The alien hunter wears a see through suit in which he is barely visible.
