The ad is sponsored by someone called American Issues Project. Too bad the McCain campaign isn't putting out such an ad, nationwide. The same issues have been raised by National Review Online, which (whatever their bad premises) does far more fact-checking than the anti-American, leftist mainstream media ... who have been completely ignoring this would-be dictator's many socialist and terrorist connections.

A conservative nonprofit group with a past link to Sen. John McCain’s presidential campaign is spending $2.8 million on an ad questioning Democrat Barack Obama’s relationship to a founder of the 1960s radical group Weather Underground.

The ad, which is expected to begin airing Thursday in Michigan and Friday in Ohio, focuses on William Ayers, whose Weatherman organization took credit for a series of bombings, including nonfatal explosions at the Pentagon and U.S. Capitol 40 years ago.

American Issues Project, the sponsor of the ad, is a nonprofit 501©4 organization. One of its board members, Ed Failor Jr., was a paid consultant for McCain’s campaign in Iowa last year. The campaign paid his firm $50,000 until July 2007. American Issues Project spokesman Christian Pinkston said Failor has no connection to the McCain campaign now.

Ayers is now a university professor. He and Obama live in the same Chicago neighborhood and served together on the board of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, a charity group. Ayers also held a meet-the-candidate event at his home for Obama when Obama first ran for office in the mid-1990s.

“Barack Obama is friends with Ayers, defending him as, quote, ‘Respectable’ and ‘Mainstream,’” the ad states. “Obama’s political career was launched in Ayers’ home. And the two served together on a left-wing board. Why would Barack Obama be friends with someone who bombed the Capitol and is proud of it? Do you know enough to elect Barack Obama?”

I don't see a case made against Obama that would stand up in court. What you have there is agitprop. For all I know it might be true. Then again, it might not be true. No real case was made. Beware of believing something that you have not personally witnessed or at least carefully investigated.

On top of that people change over time. When I was younger and less temperate I used to fantasize about terror attacks on IRS offices (I disliked and still dislike the income tax). I never took any concrete steps to make my fantasy real, so I was not a conspirator. But in times passed I had the mind set of a terrorist.

Now I am less hot-headed about the IRS and several other things that really p*ss*d me off. Am I guilty of terrorism? Am I an Enemy of the People? I don't think so. Yet there was a time in my life that I would have been prime recruiting material for The Weather Underground. Times change. So do people.

But don't get me wrong. I would not vote for Obama, even if voting for him would keep me dry in a rainstorm. I detest his altruistic premises. If he is elected then I weep for The Republic. We will survive Obama if he is elected (after all the U.S. survived the Civil War), but we will be decades in undoing the damages he probably will cause. My general feeling toward Obama is God damn him and the camel he rode into town on. If Obama is elected it will be a black day for America.

Political ads are not intended or designed to meet the arcane rules of "standing up in court" for a criminal conviction. The only factual question is, did or did not Obama begin his political career in the 1990s with the help of yet another leftist revolutionary? The ad claims he did and properly raises the question of whether the voters know enough about a whole string of such past and present associations with radical leftists that keep coming to light to trust him to be the "moderate" he spins himself as. Why should such a person be given the benefit of the doubt in sanctioning him to be President of the United States? You don't have to convict him of a crime in a court of law to legitimately not vote for someone out of lack of trust. Unlike in a court of law where someone is supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, it is up to a candidate to prove himself to the voters whose support he wants.

Say rather, terrorist. The bombs he set off were real. It's only a matter of chance that you or one of your loved ones wasn't on the spot. The policemen they gunned down were real. The explosion of their bomb factory in Greenwich Village (which fortunately killed only the bomb-makers) was real. O.'s long-standing relationship with this terrorist is a matter of public record.

For background information on these particular terrorist friends of Obama, see

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weatherman_(organization)

Perhaps O. is hoping most of his supporters are too young (or too ignorant) to know of such events as

"Brian V. McDonnell, a sergeant with the San Franscisco Police Department who received fatal shrapnel wounds from a Weatherman pipe bomb set off on February 16, 1970...

"On March 6, 1970, during preparations for the bombing of an officers' dance at the Fort Dix U.S. Army base and for Butler Library at Columbia University,[27] there was an explosion in a Greenwich Village safe house when the bomb being constructed prematurely detonated due to a wiring malfunction...

"the bombing of the United States Capitol on March 1, 1971 ...

"the bombing of The Pentagon on May 19, 1972 ...

"... the January 29, 1975 bombing of the Harry S Truman Building housing the United States Department of State ..."

One major inaccuracy in this article: they refer to "the general decline of the New Left." That is false. The New Left is now firmly entrenched in American universities, government institutions, the Democratic Party (where a senator can publicly condemn U.S. servicemen as guilty until proven innocent, without repercussion), and the Obama campaign.

That is why I said "revolutionaries". My first encounters with them were when they were taking over buildings, shutting down universities and organizing "spontaneous riots" where the goal was to lure the police into attacking innocent people in order to "radicalize" them. They literally thought there was going to be a violent socialist revolution overthrowing the government. I once "attended" a meeting of leftist radicals at which a spokesman from another, Black radical, group came in and led a discussion on how they were planning to bomb the Lamont library at Harvard (which I informed the dean of the next day). Off campus, the weathermen "Underground" were frequently in the news for killing the police and other violent activities. Today's leftists don't take over universities only because they already own them. As they said about the military in the Clinton administration, "They're our planes now."

From http://michellemalkin.com/2008/08/25/obama...iring-ayers-ad/

Barack Obama is striking back fiercely and swiftly to stamp out an ad that links him to a 1960s radical, eager to demonstrate a far more aggressive response to attacks than John Kerry did when faced with the 2004 “Swift Boat” campaign.

Obama not only aired a response ad to the spot linking him to William Ayers, but he sought to block stations the commercial by warning station managers and asking the Justice Department to intervene...

Clearly, the Obamessiah is aiming for a Hugo Chavez-type "presidency."

Michelle Malkin is continuing to follow the story, quoting a press release from the Conservative organization that created the ad:

AIP responds again:

American Issues Project Calls Obama Campaign Efforts to Prosecute Political Opponents “Bullying” and “Censorship”

AIP Responds to Second DOJ Letter from

Obama Campaign Demanding Donor Prosecution

Washington, DC – August 26, 2008 – The Barack Obama campaign has now sent a second letter to the Department of Justice calling for the prosecution of one of American Issues Project’s donors for his role in funding a political advertisement in full compliance with all election laws.

“Having failed in its attempts to get our legal, factual and fully-supported ad off the air, Barack Obama’s campaign now wants to put our donors in prison for exercising their right to free speech,” said Ed Martin, American Issues Project’s president. “These over-the-top bullying tactics are reminiscent of the kind of censorship one would see in a Stalinist dictatorship, with the only difference being that those guys generally had to wait until they were in power to throw people who disagreed with them into jail.”

In addition to two letters sent to the Department of Justice asking the government to investigate American Issues Project, its officers, board of directors, and donors, the Obama campaign has been contacting stations running American Issues Project’s ad in an unsuccessful attempt to compel them to pull the spot. With no success on either front, the campaign has also begun running its own ad in response. Notably, this ad fails to dispute a single fact in the American Issues Project’s initial ad...

Here is that organization's home page: http://www.americanissuesproject.org/

and here is the documentation they offer: http://www.americanissuesproject.org/pdf/A...gh_Research.pdf (a 5 MB file)

page 24 quotes a New York Times article:

"Mr. Obama also fit in at Hyde Park's fringes, among university faculty members like Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, unrepentant members of the radical Weather Underground that bombed the United States Capitol and the Pentagon to protest the Vietnam War. Mr. Obama was introduced to the couple in 1995 at a meet-and-greet they held for him at their home, aides said."

page 31 quotes another NYT article:

"An unusual combination of New York political and law enforcement leaders have condemned former President Bill Clinton's pardon of Susan L. Rosenberg, a one-time member of the Weather Underground terrorist group who was charged in the notorious 1981 Brink's robbery in Rockland County that left a guard and two police officers dead."

page 165 quptes a Boston Globe article:

"Yet Obama's ties to Ayers and Dohrn aren't nearly as trifling as he suggests ..."

etc. etc. etc.

Damning evidence.

If the Republicans have become the party of religion, the Democrats have become the party of Marxist and terrorist hatred of America.

Obama Should Come Clean

On Ayers, Rezko

And the Iraqi Billionaire

By JOHN FUND

August 30, 2008; Page A11

Denver

Even as Barack Obama gave his soaring speech Thursday night, his campaign was playing hardball with its critics.

Team Obama has launched an offensive against WGN, the Chicago Tribune's radio station, for interviewing Stanley Kurtz. Mr. Kurtz is a conservative writer who this week forced the University of Illinois to finally open its records on Sen. Obama's association with William Ayers, the unrepentant 1970s Weather Underground terrorist.

An Obama campaign email to supporters called Mr. Kurtz a "slimy character assassin" whose "divisive, destructive ranting" should be confronted. WGN producer Zack Christenson says the outpouring of negative calls and emails is "unprecedented." He also notes that it is curious -- because "we wanted the Obama campaign's take" on Mr. Kurtz's findings, but the campaign declined to put anyone on air.

Separately, Mr. Obama's lawyers have also demanded that the Justice Department prosecute an organization called the American Issues Project for running an ad about ties between their candidate and Mr. Ayers...

Obama/Ayers Update: Obama Campaign Unleashes “Turbas” on WGN Radio Host

By Steve Diamond on August 28, 2008 at 10:14 PM

...the Milt Rosenberg show was the subject of a wave of hostile attacks from followers of the Obama campaign because Milt had the nerve to put on his show Dr. Stanley Kurtz, a journalist and conservative intellectual who writes for National Review Online.

Dr. Kurtz has been writing a series of articles on Obama and, in particular on Obama’s political activities while in Chicago.

Most recently, Dr. Kurtz has turned his attention to a subject that Global Labor has been exploring - albeit from a left perspective - the relationship between Barack Obama and Bill Ayers particularly on the $160 million six year long Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC) from 1995 to 2001....

Caller after caller to WGN read off talking points provided them by the Obama campaign alleging that Dr. Kurtz, and by implication and sometimes directly, Milt Rosenberg, was “smearing” Barack Obama and finding Obama “guilty by association.” They also accused Kurtz of lying.

Yet, when pressed for specifics, these callers had none.

This gang of callers and emailers reminded me of the “turbas” - the street thugs organized by the Nicaraguan Sandinistas who would be deployed on a moment’s notice to harass independent trade unionists, human rights activists and government critics during the Sandinistas’ rule over Nicaragua in the 1980’s. Hugo Chavez in Venezuela - a favorite haunt of Bill Ayers and other “Progressives for Obama” - uses similar bodies in Caracas neighborhoods.

Together Ayers and Obama worked to hand out more than $160 million in and around the Chicago school system to groups that allegedly were going to work to improve student achievement. The effort failed, miserably, at least on the level of achievement.

But Ayers and others claim it was a success - no doubt because it helped them in their battle with the Mayor of Chicago, Richard Daley Jr. who was trying to wrest control of the Annenberg Challenge grant away from Ayers and Obama. Daley was also trying to crush the Local School Councils set up in 1988 after a campaign that Ayers and Obama both participated in. Those Councils were aimed to be a watchdog over the Teachers Union and the School Board. They were failing too and Ayers and Obama viewed the CAC money as a conduit to prop them up.

So it is a hard fact that Ayers and Obama knew each other well before the time the Obama campaign has stated in the past. And clearly Obama well knew that Ayers was not just a guy from the neighborhood as he stated on national TV.

I warned of this very dilemma for the campaign many months ago. I pointed out that the hope for change that the Obama campaign had raised among many in the anti-war and labor movement, for example, would be crushed if Obama could not explain why he was involved with someone like Bill Ayers

Ayers was one of the most destructive forces on the left for many years - in fact, he should not be called a leftist. He is an authoritarian who is more comfortable with figures like Hugo Chavez than he is with genuine democratic activists like those in the labor movement.

For whatever reason, Obama chose Ayers as an ally at a critical point in his career. The post at the CAC was big step up for the young lawyer. Obama, though, could have made other choices. He could have said no to Ayers. But they worked together on school reform for years, then on juvenile justice issues and then on the board of the Woods Fund.

As some on the left - often inappropriately - like to say: those chickens are coming home to roost.

... But we are talking about more than a mere “association.”

Bluntly, Obama has lied about his relationship with Ayers, whom he now dismisses as “a guy who lives in my neighborhood.” Ayers and Obama have made joint appearances together; they have argued together for “reforms” of the criminal justice system to make it more criminal-friendly; Obama gushed with praise for Ayers’ 1997 polemical book on the Chicago courts; and they sat together for three years on the board of the Woods Fund, a left-wing enterprise that distributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to their ideological allies. Most significant, they worked closely together on the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC).

The CAC was a major education reform project, proposed by Ayers, which was underwritten by a $49.2 million grant from the Annenberg Foundation, complemented by another $100 million in private and public funding. The project ran for about five years, beginning in 1995. As the liberal researcher Steve Diamond has recounted, Ayers ran its operational arm, the “Chicago School Reform Collaborative.” Obama, then a 33-year-old, third-year associate at a small law firm, having no executive experience, was brought in to chair the board of directors, which oversaw all “fiscal matters.”

By the time the CAC’s operations were wound down in 2001 it had doled out more than $100 million in grants but had failed to achieve any improvement in the Chicago schools. What little is known about the grants Obama oversaw is troubling. As Diamond relates, one of the first CAC awards in 1995 was $175,000 for the “Small Schools Workshop,” which had been founded by Ayers and was then headed by Mike Klonsky. It was only the beginning of the CAC’s generous funding of Klonsky — a committed Maoist who had been an Ayers comrade in the radical Students for a Democratic Society (the forerunner of Ayers’ Weatherman terrorist organization), and who hosted a “social justice” blog on the Obama campaign website until his writings were hastily purged in June after Diamond called attention to them.

Kurtz began his review, and on Wednesday was invited on Milt Rosenberg’s radio program to discuss it. Rosenberg is a Chicago institution. His program, “Extension 720,” has aired for more than 30 years — a civil forum where knowledgeable guests from across the political spectrum discuss important issues in revealing two-hour interviews. What happened Wednesday night was stunning, as even the normally unflappable Rosenberg observed.

The Obama campaign — which has emissaries appearing everywhere — declined Rosenberg’s invitation to have a representative appear on the program and respond to Kurtz’s factual assertions. The campaign did, however, issue an “Obama Action Wire” that encouraged supporters to contact the program (telephone information was provided) and use scripted “talking points” to disrupt Kurtz’s appearance, which it deemed “unacceptable.” As the Politico’s Ben Smith reported, the campaign also urged supporters to demand that Rosenberg scrap the appearance of Kurtz, whom the campaign libeled as a “smear-merchant” and a “slimy character assassin.” The rant was reminiscent of the work of the left-wing media “watch-dog” Media Matters for America.

Other than denigrating Kurtz for being conservative, Obama’s operatives have provided no response to the substance of his claims. In their only pretense of engaging him, they accuse him of telling “a flat out lie” that Ayers recruited Obama for the CAC. Though it is a reasonable inference that Ayers recruited Obama, the careful Kurtz has stopped short of making it — observing only that Obama offers no explanation of how he was recruited if not through Ayers, his friend and the CAC’s driving force.

The station, WGN, has made a stream of the broadcast available online, here, and it has to be heard to be believed. Obama’s robotic legions dutifully jammed the station’s phone lines and inundated the program with emails, attacking Kurtz personally. Pressed by Rosenberg to specify what inaccuracies Kurtz was guilty of, caller after caller demurred, mulishly railing that “we just want it to stop,” and that criticism of Obama was “just not what we want to hear as Americans.” Remarkably, as Obama sympathizers raced through their script, they echoed the campaign’s insistence that it was Rosenberg who was “lowering the standards of political discourse” by having Kurtz on, rather than the campaign by shouting him down.

Kurtz has obviously hit a nerve. It is the same nerve hit by the American Issues Project, whose television ad calling for examination of the Obama/Ayers relationship has prompted the Obama campaign to demand that the Justice Department begin a criminal investigation. Obama fancies himself as “post-partisan.” He is that only in the sense that he apparently brooks no criticism. This episode could be an alarming preview of what life will be like for the media should the party of the Fairness Doctrine gain unified control of the federal government next year.

You know, sometimes I quite literally get the urge to bash heads. The Milt Rosenberg interview of Stanley Kurtz on August 27 is available online. It is well worth listening to the 1 hour 24 min discussion. It includes up to the minute discussion on the source and nature of the Obama email campagin against the show as it was happening and being discovered, the background of how the show came about and Obama declined to have a representative on the show, and the nature of the research Kurtz was in the middle of and how the library tried to block his access to it. The tone of the whole interview is exceptionally civilized and rational, in great contrast to the hysterical smear campaign conducted by the Obama campaign. Some callers representing the "talking points" of the Obama campaign were also permitted on the show, where they revealed they could not defend what they were told to say. The emails are here.

MORE on Obama's long-time cooperation with this terrorist

[which the dishonest, socialist little b_____d is still LYING about]:

From a Wall Street Journal article: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1222128560...emEditorialPage

Obama and Ayers

Pushed Radicalism

On Schools

Despite having authored two autobiographies, Barack Obama has never written about his most important executive experience. From 1995 to 1999, he led an education foundation called the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC), and remained on the board until 2001. The group poured more than $100 million into the hands of community organizers and radical education activists.

The CAC was the brainchild of Bill Ayers, a founder of the Weather Underground in the 1960s. Among other feats, Mr. Ayers and his cohorts bombed the Pentagon, and he has never expressed regret for his actions. Barack Obama's first run for the Illinois State Senate was launched at a 1995 gathering at Mr. Ayers's home.

The Obama campaign has struggled to downplay that association. Last April, Sen. Obama dismissed Mr. Ayers as just "a guy who lives in my neighborhood," and "not somebody who I exchange ideas with on a regular basis." Yet documents in the CAC archives make clear that Mr. Ayers and Mr. Obama were partners in the CAC. Those archives are housed in the Richard J. Daley Library at the University of Illinois at Chicago and I've recently spent days looking through them....

The CAC's agenda flowed from Mr. Ayers's educational philosophy, which called for infusing students and their parents with a radical political commitment, and which downplayed achievement tests in favor of activism. In the mid-1960s, Mr. Ayers taught at a radical alternative school, and served as a community organizer in Cleveland's ghetto.

In works like "City Kids, City Teachers" and "Teaching the Personal and the Political," Mr. Ayers wrote that teachers should be community organizers dedicated to provoking resistance to American racism and oppression. His preferred alternative? "I'm a radical, Leftist, small 'c' communist," Mr. Ayers said in an interview in Ron Chepesiuk's, "Sixties Radicals," at about the same time Mr. Ayers was forming CAC....

Mr. Ayers's defenders claim that he has redeemed himself with public-spirited education work. That claim is hard to swallow if you understand that he views his education work as an effort to stoke resistance to an oppressive American system. He likes to stress that he learned of his first teaching job while in jail for a draft-board sit-in. For Mr. Ayers, teaching and his 1960s radicalism are two sides of the same coin.

Mr. Ayers is the founder of the "small schools" movement (heavily funded by CAC), in which individual schools built around specific political themes push students to "confront issues of inequity, war, and violence." He believes teacher education programs should serve as "sites of resistance" to an oppressive system. (His teacher-training programs were also CAC funded.) The point, says Mr. Ayers in his "Teaching Toward Freedom," is to "teach against oppression," against America's history of evil and racism, thereby forcing social transformation.

The Obama campaign has cried foul when Bill Ayers comes up, claiming "guilt by association." Yet the issue here isn't guilt by association; it's guilt by participation. As CAC chairman, Mr. Obama was lending moral and financial support to Mr. Ayers and his radical circle. That is a story even if Mr. Ayers had never planted a single bomb 40 years ago.

But he did, and Obama knew it. He claims as an excuse that he was "only 8 years old" at the time of Ayers' terrorism, but he wasn't 8 years old when he collaborated with an unrepentent terrorist on militant leftist organizing and propaganda in the name of "education".
