I was mistaken, it was 1954 the Student Prince came out (MGM) . Here is a short "drinking song" from that show. Lanza did not do the acting in this one, but his voice is stunningly powerful.

Insofar as it helps create miserable drunks who need them, they love it; insofar as it helps create happy drinkers on special occassions who don't need anyone, they hate it.
