Imagine you are transported to a different universe, where journalists are honest and logical. A world where there is a right and a wrong.

I listened to this interview with Joe Biden and I could barely believe what I was hearing:

I'm eagerly awaiting a radio broadcast saying "This is Barbara West and Joe the Plumber speaking. You are to hear a report on the world crisis...". It may not be perfect, but it's the best we've got.

It's amazing how simple and _normal_ it sounds to hear a real reporter ask honest questions. To bad it's so unusual.

Her questions were stunning. I don't want to take anything away from her, but I wonder if she has any connection to the Hilary Clinton wing of the Democratic party. Not that I care: anything that keeps Obama out of the White House is most welcome.

Interesting, I found this video via a link from Little Green Footballs, which went directly to a Hillary site where the youtube video was embedded. Still, those questions seemed to come from a non-liberal perspective, so I'm not sure.

I agree, and dear god Joe Biden struck me as a creep!

He was laughing at us as he repeatedly lied and evaded the questions with irrlevant 'talking points'.

I can't believe he actually says these things. He actually claims that Bush somehow ravaged the middle class, and that Bush is the one redistributing the wealth? How? By what causal connection?

LA Times Hiding Incriminating Video of Obama with Radical Palestinian? Update: Ayers and Dohrn Attended Khalidi Party with Obama
Politics | Sat, Oct 25, 2008 at 8:18:26 pm PST

Gateway Pundit says he contacted the LA Times to ask about a video showing Barack Obama at a party for radical Islamist Rashid Khalidi, mentioned by the LA Times in this article: Allies of Palestinians see a friend in Barack Obama...

LA Times writer Peter Wallsten said he won’t release the video or reveal his sources: Confirmed: MSM Holds Video Of Barack Obama Attending Jew-Bash & Toasting a Former PLO Operative... Refuse to Release the Video!

If true, this is media malfeasance of an almost astounding degree. They have a video that could change the stakes in this election and they’re hiding it. And they’ve been hiding it since last April.

ABC News' Malone: Ashamed To Be Known As a 'Journalist'

"The traditional media is playing a very, very dangerous game. With its readers, with the Constitution, and with its own fate.

The sheer bias in the print and television coverage of this election campaign is not just bewildering, but appalling. And over the last few months I’ve found myself slowly moving from shaking my head at the obvious one-sided reporting, to actually shouting at the screen of my television and my laptop computer.

But worst of all, for the last couple weeks, I’ve begun — for the first time in my adult life — to be embarrassed to admit what I do for a living..."

Keep in mind that anything that keeps Barak and Joe out of the W.H., puts John and Sarah -in- the W.H.. John McCain is so damned lame!

This November my vote will be inspired by H.P.Lovecraft. I am writing in the name, Cthulhu. I am tired of voting for the lesser of evils so I shall vote for the greatest of evils.

Indeed . . . a stunning and revealing couple of minutes, not least of which for the refreshing nature of Miss West's questions. I especially enjoyed Miss West's reference to the famous dictum "from each according to his ability, to each according to his need" and Mr. Biden's evasion of its parallel to Mr. Obama's call to "spread the wealth around". Perhaps equally fascinating, however, was the Obama campaign's response:

"There's nothing wrong with tough questions, but reporters have the very important job of sharing the truth with the public -- not misleading the American people with false information. Senator Biden handled the interview well; however, the anchor was completely unprofessional. Senator Biden's wife is not running for elected office, and there are many other stations in the Orlando television market that would gladly conduct a respectful and factual interview with her."

"This cancellation is non-negotiable, and further opportunities for your station to interview with this campaign are unlikely, at best for the duration of the remaining days until the election."

Hmmmm. "Completely unprofessional"? Not.

ABC News' Malone: Ashamed To Be Known As a 'Journalist'

From Malo
ne's full article
, the key conclusion:

Furthermore, I also happen to believe that most reporters, whatever their political bias, are human torpedoes . . .and, had they been unleashed, would have raced in and roughed up the Obama campaign as much as they did McCain’s. That’s what reporters do, I was proud to have been one, and I’m still drawn to a good story, any good story, like a shark to blood in the water.

So why weren’t those legions of hungry reporters set loose on the Obama campaign? Who are the real villains in this story of mainstream media betrayal?

The editors. The men and women you don’t see; the people who not only decide what goes in the paper, but what doesn’t; the managers who give the reporters their assignments and lay-out the editorial pages. They are the real culprits.

Why? I think I know, because had my life taken a different path, I could have been one: Picture yourself in your 50s in a job where you’ve spent 30 years working your way to the top, to the cockpit of power . . . only to discover that you’re presiding over a dying industry. The Internet and alternative media are stealing your readers, your advertisers and your top young talent. Many of your peers shrewdly took golden parachutes and disappeared. Your job doesn’t have anywhere near the power and influence it did when your started your climb. The Newspaper Guild is too weak to protect you any more, and there is a very good chance you’ll lose your job before you cross that finish line, ten years hence, of retirement and a pension.

In other words, you are facing career catastrophe -and desperate times call for desperate measures. Even if you have to risk everything on a single Hail Mary play. Even if you have to compromise the principles that got you here. After all, newspapers and network news are doomed anyway - all that counts is keeping them on life support until you can retire.

And then the opportunity presents itself: an attractive young candidate whose politics likely matches yours, but more important, he offers the prospect of a transformed Washington with the power to fix everything that has gone wrong in your career. With luck, this monolithic, single-party government will crush the alternative media via a revived Fairness Doctrine, re-invigorate unions by getting rid of secret votes, and just maybe, be beholden to people like you in the traditional media for getting it there.

And besides, you tell yourself, it’s all for the good of the country . . .

Like Joe the plumber, West did not provide any information. She just asked questions. The reason that she and Joe are such targets is that they ask questions to solicit facts the Dems want to evade.

And the ominous trend is for the MSM, with the help of the government, to go on a witch hunt against such individuals in order to discourage such questions in the future. Little Green Footballs reported that Ohio state government computers were illegally accessed to get personal information on Joe, but who can be surprised in 2008 at that? And who really thinks that ongoing efforts to put every last scrap of information about every American including their phone calls into a centralized database is really about "fighting terrorism"? Political intimidation of "enemies of the state" is the actual reason for it.

I found this on wikipedia:

On October 23, 2008, Barbara West interviewed the Democratic vice-presidential candidate Joe Biden, asking him whether he was "embarrassed" about Barack Obama's affiliation with ACORN and voter registration fraud, comparing Obama's response to an earlier question from Ohio voter "Joe the Plumber" to a quote from Karl Marx, and suggesting that Obama wants to turn the U.S. "into a socialist country much like Sweden." [3]

The Obama campaign responded by canceling a subsequent interview with the candidate's wife, Jill Biden. The campaign's official statement was, "This cancellation is non-negotiable, and further opportunities for your station to interview with this campaign are unlikely, at best for the duration of the remaining days until the election" [4] Obama's Florida spokeswoman, Adrianne Marsh, called Biden's interviewer, Barbara West, "both combative and woefully uninformed about simple facts."[5]

Barbara West is married to Republican strategist Wade West.[6] Wade West is "a popular consultant for political candidates ranging from local elections, to more than 85 members of Congress and members of the President’s cabinet."[7] In addition, West has made multiple campaign contributions to the Republican Party.[8]

On October 14, 2008, Barbara West interviewed Republican presidential candidate John McCain. One of the questions asked: "Senator McCain, why aren't you attacking Obama more forcefully for his leading role in voter fraud and for causing the US mortgage crisis?"

Barbara West for President! It must have been a nasty surprise for the Jill Biden interview to be canceled: I guess Leftists get cranky when not every card in the world isn't stacked in their favor.

I guess I can understand Biden's anger. The media's job is to help get Obama elected. This woman should be fired for not doing her job.

In a way she has been. The Obama campaign has announced that as a result of her questions to Biden it will allow no more interviews with the TV network she works for. As far as the arrogant Obama-ites are concerned, she has been fired. An Obama campaign spokeswoman openly taunted and mocked her -- which you may be able to catch on the Fox news report again tonight.

This was one of the few times in the campaign that anyone has attempted to publicly question Obama's philosophy of government as a matter of principle. It's not just that they don't tolerate hard questions, they tolerate no discussion of his philosophy or his radical background that exemplifies it. They have done this repeatedly with vicious personal, legal and activist attacks on anyone who challenges what he stands for in principle. They want power and they mean it. This pattern gives you an indication of what Obama will do to his enemies once he is in office with real power. These progressive leftists are thugs.

Yes, rather than fighting "the establishment" with homemade bombs, now they'll *be* the establishment with all of the power that brings.

I predict that Obama, if elected, will figure out a way to put Ayers on the payroll and be part of his cabinet.

I think that's possible, but what really worries me are Leftist attacks on free speech.

Once the "Fairness Doctrine" sails right past a filibuster-proof Senate and House, talk radio, including ARI spokesman on talk radio, will be history. There will also be attempts to strangle expression in the media and the internet with "hate speech" laws and libels, "investigations," and lawsuits directed against critics of an Obama Administration. See the current attacks, libels, investigations, and lawsuits against Palin and Joe the Plumber for an indication of what's coming.

There are actually suits against Joe the Plumber? I'd be interested in reading about that if you have any links. I knew he was being smeared but I'm having a hard time even imagining how he could be sued over this.

I didn't find any actual lawsuits against Joe, but he certainly has been libelled and investigated. In addition, his right to work as a plumber may be challenged by Tom Joseph, business manager for Local 50 of the United Association of Plumbers, Steamfitters, and Service Mechanics. (link)

Mr. Joseph said Mr. Wurzelbacher could only legally work in the townships, but not in any municipality in Lucas County or elsewhere in the country.

"This individual has got no schooling, no licenses, he’s never been to a training program, union or non-union, in the United States of America," Mr. Joseph said.

The association has endorsed Barack Obama, according to Mr. Joseph.

In addition, there have been searches on Joe's government records that might have legal ramifications (link) and other attempts to legally harass Joe (link).

If the "American sense of life" is still in the majority, that harassment of Joe should be pushed to the front and widely displayed by the Republicans, as an example of what Obama and friends will do even to the "Average American", even before they're in power.
